The President of the European Committee of the Regions (CoR), Markku Markkula, has welcomed the stronger focus on subsidiarity and proportionality in the Impact Assessment guidelines which form part of the Better Regulation Package published yesterday. He highlighted the inclusion of territorial impact assessments as an important element of the European Commission's strengthened approach to evaluate the impact of EU legislation. The President also expressed the CoRs' commitment for a result-oriented approach between all EU institutions in the context of the proposed new Agreement on Better Law-making.
