“The Eco-Innovation Challenge”: the first EIO’s annual report | IPR Helpdesk

(...) The first annual report of the Eco-Innovation Observatory (EIO) has been published this month. The document introduces the concept of eco-innovation and includes an analysis of the performance of the European countries in this field. In this context, one of the indicators considered is the number of eco-patents in each Member State. According with the data analysed, “while there are again five to six “leaders” with performances high above the EU average (Austria, The Netherlands, Denmark, Germany, Sweden and Finland), the other countries show a high gradient of decrease in their performance”.
The EIO is an initiative financed by the European Commission's Directorate-General for the Environment that aims to provide companies and innovation service providers, as well as policy makers with integrated information on eco-innovation. (...)
