CONSILIUM - Homepage European skies reopen - The ash cloud produced by the eruption of the Icelandic volcano Eyjafjöll has blocked aviation in Europe since Wednesday 14 April, grounding travellers and goods for days. In a teleconference held on Monday 19 April, EU transport ministers agreed on a progressive lifting of flight restrictions. At the same time, they underlined that safety is an absolute priority.
