World Intellectual Property Indicators report analyses intellectual property (IP) activity around the globe. Drawing on 2022 filing, registration and in force statistics from national and regional IP offices, it covers patents, utility models, trademarks, industrial designs, microorganisms, plant variety protection and geographical indications.
The report shows that there was a record number of
patent applications filed worldwide in 2022. Even though the global
filings for trademarks and designs decreased, innovators from around the
world submitted 3.46 million patent applications in 2022, marking a
third consecutive year of growth. (...)
