Joint OECD-EUIPO study: E-commerce is main enabler of counterfeit trade
In recent years, online
commerce has been booming - and the upwards trend has continued during
the COVID-19 pandemic.
A joint OECD-EUIPO study now finds that more than
half of the counterfeit goods seized at the European Union (EU) borders
stem from online commerce.
The study ‘Misuse of e-commerce for trade in
counterfeits’ analyses data from custom seizures of goods at the
external borders of the EU and looks at how counterfeit goods end up in
the hands of consumers. (...)
