regular meeting of the euro area ministers, while the second part was a

line with the European Council conclusions of 19 October, the Council
held a policy debate on speeding up work on the digital single market to

Council reached an agreement on posting of workers directive. The new
piece of law ensures the rights of posted workers, fair competition and a
well functioning Single Market.

20/10/2017 - Institutional affairs
On
19 October, EU leaders agreed to consolidate the current strategy to
control migration flows. They also said they were "ready to do what it
takes for Europe to go digital". On 20 October, they endorsed the
Leaders' Agenda and they agreed to start internal preparations for the
2nd phase of the Brexit talks.

16/10/2017 - Enlargement, external relations and trade
The
Council discussed the implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of
Action, the Iran nuclear deal. EU foreign ministers agreed on a
statement on the JCPOA. The Council also addressed the situation in the
Korean peninsula, in view of the recent provocative acts by the
Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

The
Council agreed its negotiating positions on the effort-sharing
regulation and the regulation on land use, land-use change and forestry
(LULUCF). The Council adopted conclusions on the Paris Agreement and in
preparation for the 23rd session of the Conference of the Parties
(COP23).

13/10/2017 - Justice and citizens’ rights
Ministers
held a first exchange of views on the European Commission proposal to
amend the Schengen Borders Code. Meanwhile, the regulation establishing
the European Public Prosecutor's Office (EPPO) was adopted by those
member states taking part in enhanced cooperation.
