(...) Per la strategia "Europa 2020" e per l'economia europea è di fondamentale importanza il contributo che possono dare le piccole e medie imprese (PMI).
Nell'UE circa 23 milioni di PMI occupano il 67% della forza lavoro del settore privato. Lo "Small Business Act" (SBA) definisce le linee dell'azione che l'Unione europea intende condurre a favore delle PMI, perché possano svilupparsi e creare occupazione.
Tra il 2008 e il 2010 la Commissione e gli Stati membri hanno messo in atto nel quadro dello SBA iniziative dirette a ridurre gli oneri amministrativi, a facilitare il finanziamento delle PMI e a favorire il loro accesso a nuovi mercati.
La maggior parte delle iniziative previste dallo SBA sono state avviate, ma se si guarda a quanto è stato fatto finora, appare chiaro che bisogna fare di più per aiutare le PMI. (...)
