Comitato delle regioni - Pensions systems: CoR refines initial proposals from European Parliament rapporteur

The local and regional authorities, as the main provider of public-sector jobs in Europe, do not want the debate on pension reform to be limited just to the financial aspects, thus obscuring the social side of the issue, and would highlight the importance of solidarity in a balanced approach to pension systems. In that respect, the opinion adopted by the CoR on Friday 28 January goes further than the proposals set out in the report to be presented to members of the European Parliament's Committee on Employment and Social Affairs this coming Tuesday, 1 February.
